Happy November

Happy November

Nov 01

I think this is blog posting month or maybe I’m losing it. Anyways, Happy November. It’s not really my favorite month. It seems to go by slowly. I love the Christmas season in December but I’m not too sure this year. I hate having to shop because of the crowds. I hate them with an undying passion. I also get sick of Christmas music a week after Thanksgiving.

Life has been the usual except for spending more time with Randy. We’re finding ways to do small things together which mean of a world of difference. We went shopping as a family Friday night and got Gracie a travel swing which she isn’t too keen on. I think it moves too fast for her even on the slow setting so we’re going to put it aside for a few weeks and try again. If she doesn’t end up liking it we’ll probably sell it and get a bit of the costs back. I also recently bought 4 Bum Genius cloth diapers and a blueberry as well. Then I gave in and bought a Moby last night. I’m exceited for my packages. My husband does not help with spending either because he almost always says “Just go ahead and buy it”. It’s nice but can be very dangerous as well.

Speaking of my lovely husband, he got a different position which he is training for. It’s a $1.55 raise from his previous position and soon he will be making that rate full time instead of just a few hours a week. This also makes his overtime even prettier. I don’t think it’s too bad for 4 months at his current job. I can’t help but be proud of him. So many people told me when he was in prison and before that I was wasting my time being with him and that he’d be the same when he got out. I told them no, he was young and stupid. He made a mistake because he didn’t know any different and that’s how he grew up. I was right. He’s been home for 11 months as of today and completely turned his life around. Here’s a cut about baby constipation issues I’m sure not everyone cares to read about.

Miss Gracie has given us some problems, mainly in her continuous bowel issues. We decided to switch formulas and began her last night on Enfamil Gentlease instead of the Enfamil Lipil. We’re waiting to see how it affects her overall. She was awake from 5pm yesterday until about 5am this morning due to constipation issues. At 2am or so I ended up giving her some incredibly diluted juice and finally at about 3:00 or so she got some relief. I felt horrible for her after seeing what was in her diaper. Think something along the consistency of clay followed by a mess of regular poop. Randy gagged while I rolled my eyes at him. He handles Colby’s messes just fine which are even more disgusting (Milk intolerance anyone?) I’m glad I was at mom’s though because I had her from 5-8 or so then dad watched her while we ran to the store/home to get something, then mom from 9-2am and finally I took her again. She’s also not fond of sleeping without being in my arms lately which makes it difficult to do anything so I’m anxiously awaiting my Moby. I hope she likes that more than her swing. If the formula switch doesn’t work this time I’m going to try Soy and then if we still are hitting walls, I’ll consult the doctor about it.

Things like this make me feel even more guilty about the breast feeding issue though. I can’t help but admit it. I wish it was something I could just accept as a learning experience and move on. Sadly for me, that’s never been my strong point.

  1. Yes, November is National Blog Posting Month. I am going to attempt blogging every day for the next 30 days. Congrats to Randy on the new job…He must be doing very well to get a higher position in just 4 months. I hope you can get Gracie’s constipation issues sorted out soon, as I am sure they make her miserable. :(

  2. We had to switch Matthew to the Gentlease, but ended up going to Prosobee Lipil and he did much better on that. You might try it if her problems keep up.
Congrats to Randy on the life change and the job. I’m sure having little Gracie just cements that urge to do better!

  3. My daughter had almost the exact same constipation issues Gracie is having. Her pediatrician had us switch her to Enfamil Lipil low-iron, its in a pink can, and it was like a night and day difference with her bowel issues and some other issues she was having. Make sure you give her belly a week minimum to adjust to the formula changes or you can make things worse though!!
