It’s Done!

It’s Done!

Dec 13

The semester that is. I finished my winter semester off with a final in psychology on a Saturday morning (wtf, seriously) and am so relieved that the papers, reading, discussions and tests are over for the next month.

My tune has changed a bit since the last post. I’ve been playing catch up with money using Text Broker and am pleased to say that I’m slowly but surely digging myself out of this hole. Randy still hasn’t been able to find a job, but I’m not surprised. It’s hard enough for “regular” citizens to get a job. Someone with 2 felony convictions (grand larceny in ’06 and DWI in ’10) has a lot working against him. I’m just glad that he does his fair share of work here at home though. It’s so nice to have a partner in raising Gracie.

Next semester I’m being crazy again and taking 18 credit hours. I swear I’m a glutton for punishment. I really want snow to start falling, just so you all know. It’s not very Christmas-y without some white stuff so hopefully the weather kicks its ass into gear.

Gracie’s Christmas shopping is nearly done. I’m not really buying for anyone else (Randy and I included) because we’re not going more into debt for Christmas. It’s totally not worth it.

Yay for the upturn :) what’s Gracie getting so far? I refuse to borrow to fund Christmas. Most people I am close to know money is tighter for everyone. I have written to family to let then know- our kids get gifts from me and their dad does, other than that I just don’t have funds for. We’re giving the kids the best we can afford, and if everyone focuses on a few people I think everyone will have a better holiday.

Good luck to Randy in his job search!

  2. Glad your semester is over as well! Glad you were able to get some more income, hope Randy is able to find some work soon. Can his parole officer help him with that?

I feel you on the snow. It’s been in the 60s here all week! And it’s supposed to continue that way. It’s the middle of December! Last year I was freezing to death walking the ten feet from my door to my car. Where’s the winter weather? I certainly don’t feel like it’s Christmas time until it cools down.

  3. Congrats on finishing your semester! I know it must be a relief to finally have a break from it. I have my last final tomorrow and am so looking forward to this semester being over.

I also agree that it doesn’t make sense to go in debt for Christmas gifts because there’s so much more to Christmas than just getting gifts and hopefully people around you recognize that.

We’ve been getting rain for past couple of days so all of our snow is gone so hopefully we’ll get a little bit of the white stuff for Christmas, but honestly I’m not a big fan of winter. It’s beautiful to look at, but not fun to have to shovel or drive in.

  4. Glad that the semester is over for you. It’s nice to have a few weeks to not think about school…especially since you will have another full load next semester. I am also glad that you are finding writing work to replace DMS. I was doing some titling there but haven’t in over two months since they have dried up. I have a couple of private clients and am doing some work for myself to bring in passive income. Good luck on Randy finding a job! It really is hard right now with the economy.
